Trichology and hair transplant
Trichology is the science of the structure, function and diseases of the human hair. Clinical trichology is the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the human hair and scalp.
A trichologist is a hair and scalp specialist. Trained in life sciences, they look at hair loss problems in a holistic way by evaluating clients on the basis of personal history, lifestyle, genetic factors and environmental conditions.
Laser Treatment
Laser skin treatment, also known as laser skin resurfacing, is a procedure that makes use of lasers to improve skin irregularities or remove skin blemishes.
This is a good option for people who want to achieve smoother, younger-looking skin. Laser skin treatment is also known as laser vaporization or peel..
In laser skin treatments, the epidermis, or the skin's outer layer, is removed. At the same time, the dermis, which is the layer of the skin underneath the surface, is heated, stimulating the skin cells to produce elastin and collagen fibers.
Using lasers for skin treatments results in controlled injury to the damaged skin and promoting wound healing and re-modelling.
The healing process creates new skin cells, resulting in a smoother and tighter skin surface.
Nail Disorders
A nail disease or onychosis is a disease or deformity of the nail. Although the nail is a structure produced by the skin and is a skin appendage, nail diseases have a distinct classification as they have their own signs and symptoms which may relate to other medical conditions.
Some nail conditions that show signs of infection or inflammation may require medical assistance. About half of all nail disorders are of infectious origin, 15% are due to inflammatory or metabolic conditions, and 5% are due to malignancies and pigment disturbances.
The differential diagnosis of nail disorders is often an area of uncertainty. Methods: This review is based on publications and guidelines retrieved by a selective search in PubMed, including Cochrane reviews, meta-analyses, and AWMF guidelines.
Pregnancy Dermatoses
Pregnancy is characterized by many physiological skin changes as striae gravidarum, melasma accompanied by hair, nail and vascular changes which are due to hormonal effects.
Along with this, the pre-existing skin conditions may either improve or exacerbate in pregnancy due to immunological changes in pregnancy.
As cell mediated immunity is depressed during normal pregnancy, this accounts for increased severity and frequency of skin infections as candidiasis.
There are however few inflammatory skin dermatoses which are specific to pregnancy and are seen only in pregnancy. Though most of these skin dermatoses are benign and resolve in postpartum period, a few can risk fetal life and require antenatal surveillance.
Pediatric Skin Diseases
Skin disease here refers to disorders of exclusively (or predominantly) the superficial layers of the skin.
Diseases with occasional or accessory skin features – such as leprosy, endemic treponematoses, or different varieties offilariasis – are not included as there is already an abundant literature on them.
Commondisorders refer to diseases that occur frequently in the general population (with a prevalence of > 1%),or at a primary or peripheral healthcare level. This pragmatic definition is further explained below.
Since disordersthat are uncommon in some areas may be common in others, geographic specificities, as well as some constantfeatures, should be indicated.
Pigmentation Skin Disease
Pigmentation means coloring. Skin pigmentation disorders affect the color of your skin. Your skin gets its color from a pigment called melanin. Special cells in the skin make melanin.
When these cells become damaged or unhealthy, it affects melanin production. Some pigmentation disorders affect just patches of skin. Others affect your entire body.
A dermatology should take care of his legal safety by obtaining informed consent and meticulously documenting and preserving medical records.
Importance of communication and maintaining of fiduciary relationship with the patient cannot be overemphasized.
Cosmetology
Cosmetologists are trained and licensed to perform cosmetic treatments to the hair, skin, and nails.
This can be expanded into multiple parts including cutting and chemically treating hair, chemical hair removal, fashion trends, wigs, nails and skin care, skin and hair analysis; relaxation techniques including head, neck, scalp, hand and feet basic massage and aroma therapies; plus ability to expertly apply makeup applications to cover or promote and can expand into further specialties such as reflexology; theatrical applications; cosmetics
Clinical Dermatology
The MSc in Clinical Dermatology is designed specifically for doctors with a special interest in dermatology after gaining at least one year of general medical experience.
It aims to give a firm grounding in the fundamentals of clinical and scientific dermatology, with priority given to clinical instruction but also an emphasis on the scientific content of dermatology.
It is particularly suitable for overseas medical graduates, but is also appropriate as an additional course to contribute to any dermatology specialist training programme.
Chemical Peeling
Chemical peeling implies gentle exfoliation of the layers of the skin in a very controlled manner using specific medical solutions containing alpha & beta hydroxy acids, which are usually derived from organic sources of various plants & fruits.
Chemical peeling is primarily used for the following indications -
- Even out the skin tone & decrease pigmentation
- Remove sun tanning by increasing skin turn over & promoting exfoliation
- Treat acne (due to their comedolytic & keratolytic effect)
- Anti-aging benefits (to reduce & delay development of wrinkles)
Chemical peel works in the following ways –
- Decreasing skin turnover time & promoting exfoliation of the upper layers of the skin to flake off the pigmentation faster
- Neocollagenosis – Increasing the collagen production in the deeper layer of the skin, which usually decreases with age, causing the skin to sag & wrinkle.
- Anti-inflammatory effect in the pilo-sebaceous unit (hair follicle) to reduce sebum production & colonization by pimple causing bacteria.
Skin polishing
A body polish is a popular body treatment that exfoliates and hydrates your skin, leaving it smooth and soft. The best way to think about a body polish is that it is a treatment for the skin basically a facial for the body.
In a spa, the body polish is followed by a shower and ends with an application of body lotion. It should not be confused with a massage which targets the muscles.
Facial polish awakens tired, sluggish skin while working to clear pores and remove dead skin cells and debris for a smoother-looking complexion. Provides gentle mechanical and chemical exfoliation from environmentally-friendly scrubbing beads and Papaya enzymes.
A refreshing mint scent lends a cooling tingle to revive skin and awaken the senses while providing soothing and nourishing benefits.
Platelet Rich Plasma treatment
Plasma is the liquid part of your blood that’s mostly made of water and protein. It lets red and white blood cells and platelets move through your bloodstream. Platelets are a type of blood cell that makes your blood clot . They also play a role in healing.
Doctors may use platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on injuries or damage to tendons, ligaments, muscles, joints, and skin.
To collect plasma, a doctor draws blood from your body and uses a machine to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the rest of the blood. Then the doctor numbs the area of your body being treated with PRP injections. Once you’re numb, the doctor uses a needle to inject your plasma into the area of your body being treated.
Removal of warts & moles
Although we recommend removing any of these spots, warts especially need to be removed quickly (before you pass the virus along to someone else). But when people try to treat them at home, they never seem to get better. Why? They’re a virus that lives in the skin cells.
If you don’t get rid of the virus, you won’t get rid of the wart. So you have to treat it long enough to kill all the skin cells that contain the virus.
Wart treatments are painful. If people start an over-the-counter treatment, they often second-guess themselves when the area starts to hurt. They realize they don’t know what they’re doing, and they can’t stand the pain. So they stop the treatment too soon for it to be effective.
Moles are the most serious of these three skin issues. They form slowly, taking a long time to grow. If they become cancerous, they begin to change.
To see a visual difference between wart and mole bumps, look for pigment and hair. Warts don’t have either, but moles have both. Because of their pigment, they have the rare potential to change from a regular mole into skin cancer.
Some people are predisposed to develop moles, and sun exposure stimulates them. So, if you notice these small benign growths pop up easily on your skin, take extra precautions in the sun to prevent more from forming.
Skin de-tanning masks
Facial masks generally stay on your skin for 10 to 15 minutes and contain ingredients like clay, black moor mud, aloe vera, seaweed, algae, essential oils, massage oils and herbs, and vitamins.
After the mask has done its work, the esthetician removes it and completes the facial with an application of toner, serum, moisturizer, eye cream, lip balm, and if it's day-time, sunscreen.
One sign of a good facial is when the esthetician stays in the room with you during the facial mask, giving you a scalp massage or some other service that enhances your experience. However, whether you prefer to do it in the salon or make your own facial mask at home, getting a facial mask can go a long way to improving the overall health of your skin.
